In advance of its 27th annual Pipes of Christmas fundraiser concert, the Learned Kindred of Currie has launched a fundraising campaign to cover the event’s production costs for what will be the most extensive performance schedule in the concert’s history.
The campaign, which has a goal of $20,000, will ensure that all proceeds from the concert’s ticket sales can be used to support the Kindred’s extensive cultural programs and initiatives.
The Pipes of Christmas: A festival for the soul
For nearly three decades, The Pipes of Christmas has brought the joy and beauty of Celtic Christmas traditions to life for the holidays. The beloved concert brings together world-class musicians, soloists, and performers from across America and the UK for a stirring celebration of the Christmas season and the Celtic spirit.
For the first time ever, five live performances will be held over two weekends in Boston, New York City, and Summit NJ between December 5 and 14. A webcast of this year’s concert highlights will also be available to stream worldwide from December 19-31.
The concert features traditional Celtic Christmas music alongside newly commissioned works performed on bagpipes, brass, strings, harp, and organ. Traditionally, part of the program is conducted in Gaelic, connecting nearly 2,000 annual attendees to rich and sacred Scottish traditions.
A fundraiser for Scottish heritage and the arts
The concert is hosted by the Learned Kindred of Currie, a non-profit cultural and educational organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Scottish and Highland heritage and the arts. As its primary fundraiser, the Pipes of Christmas enables the organization’s continued efforts to support the global Scottish community.
The impact of this beloved event includes:
- 200+ scholarships awarded to emerging Celtic artists and scholars
- 25 new artistic works commissioned and premiered
- 5 heritage sites preserved and commemorated
- 50+ community organizations supported through outreach
