“Pipes of Christmas” Concert Highlights to Air on Cable Television and Internet
 
Screenings Scheduled for Christmas
 
Highlights of the 14th Annual Pipes of Christmas will be aired on HomeTowne Television throughout central New Jersey this Christmas weekend.  The program will be aired over the Christmas weekend, December 24 – 26. The videotaping took place at the December 16th concert at Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ.
 
Air times are as follows:
Monday – Wednesday, December 24 – 26
at noon, 5:30 PM and Midnight (12:00 AM)
 
The broadcast will reach 30 New Jersey towns representing over 140 thousand households via the Comcast and Verizon cable television platforms. The production will also stream “live” on the station’s website during the scheduled broadcasts making the production accessible to anyone around the world with an Internet connection. For a complete program guide visit www.hometownetv.org.

The Pipes of Christmas features performances by many leading Scottish and Irish performers, including popular country dance trio Local Hero, Celtic harpist Jennifer Port, and the Kevin Ray Blandford Memorial Pipe Band.  Other members of the company include guitarist Steve Gibb, James Robinson, Paul McCallum and the Solid Brass ensemble.
Lead sponsors of the 2012 production were Edinburgh Napier University, Mercedes-Benz and the Grand Summit Hotel.  Additional support was provided by the Classic Malts of Scotland.
 
Highlights of the 14th annual production included two world premieres commissioned by the Clan Currie Society from Scottish composers.
 
“Balmoral Snow,” by Steve Gibb served to mark the Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth, II. “Sea of Tranquility,” by James Ross was written in memory of astronaut and Scottish-American Neil Armstrong who died last August.

Audience feedback for the three concerts was unanimously positive. Joyce Brooks of Black Tie Magazine commented, “It was truly the most beautiful concert I ever had the pleasure of attending.” Barbara Schmidt-Kemp wrote, “Every one of the musicians were top notch. It certainly helped us get into the Christmas spirit.”
 
Concert proceeds fund music scholarships in the US, Scotland and Canada.
 
An Award-Winning Collaboration
 
HomeTowne Television first began broadcasting concert highlights in 2000.  Since that time, the program has been the recipient of five prestigious Telly Awards and a Videographer Award for video production excellence.  The 2003 concert was televised live as a fund raiser for the community access station.
