Manhattan concert highlights were also included in this week’s airing of “Dan Rather Reports” on the HDnet cable channel. The Pipes of Christmas features performances by many leading Scottish and Irish performers, including popular country dance trio Local Hero, Celtic harpist Jennifer Port, and the Kevin Ray Blandford Memorial Pipe Band.  Other members of the company include guitarist Steve Gibb, Evan Cattanach and the Solid Brass ensemble.

A highlight of the 2010 concert was the emotional tribute to the late Private Bill Millin, the D-Day bagpiper whose piping inspired the Allied Forces on Sword Beach during the Normandy Beach on June 6, 1944. Pipe Major Scott Larson of the Blandford Band performed a haunting lament in memory of the famed piper.

Lead sponsors of the 2010 production were Oban Single Malt Scotch Whisky and the Grand Summit Hotel.  Additional support was provided by Mohonk Mountain House, Rodney Strong Winery, and Westy Self Storage Centers. For a complete list of Sponsors and Partners, visit www.pipesofchristmas.com.
Concert proceeds fund music scholarships in the US, Scotland and Canada.
